When I moved abroad and became a mother, everything about my identity cracked open. I wasn’t just navigating a new culture—I was rebuilding a business, re-learning how to speak, and figuring out how to show up online with a toddler on my hip and no script to follow.
I didn’t feel seen. I didn’t feel polished. I didn’t feel like I belonged in the world of personal branding that demanded red lipstick, quiet backgrounds, and curated perfection.
But what I did feel—deeply—was this: if I wanted to be remembered, I had to stop filtering myself.
That was the beginning of everything. That’s when I realized: I don’t need a niche. I need a narrative.
And that narrative? It starts with how you want people to feel when they land on your content.
Let’s get one thing straight: You don’t need a niche. You need a narrative.
And that narrative? It starts with how you want people to feel when they land on your content.
This is your positioning. It’s not just about what you sell. It’s about who you are, what you stand for, and the emotional fingerprint you leave behind after someone hears you speak, watches your Story, or binge-scrolls your feed.
You don’t need to scream louder to stand out online. You need to speak clearer. And that clarity? Starts with 3 simple but powerful words.
Why 3 Words?
Because our brains crave consistency. Emotion. Pattern. When you show up with content that feels like the same energy, tone, and truth every time, people trust you faster. They remember you longer. They refer you, buy from you, and DM you with “I feel like you’re inside my head.”
Your 3 brand words are the invisible thread behind your content. They’re how you make people feel—before they ever read a word of copy or click your link.
This is not a tagline. This is emotional positioning.
How I Found Mine
When I sat down to define mine, I asked myself what I was tired of filtering, what I wanted to claim unapologetically, and what people kept reflecting back to me in the DMs. I realized my best content—the stuff that made women screenshot, share, and reply with “omg this is ME”—was always rooted in my messy truth, my marketing brain, and my urge to shake the system. That’s how I landed on:
- Unfiltered – Because I refuse to water down real life to fit a grid.
- Strategic – Because behind the chaos, there’s always intention.
- Disruptive – Because I’m not here to play it safe. I’m here to provoke clarity and burn the old rules.
These aren’t just buzzwords. They are my content compass.
Step 1: Start With How You Want to Be Felt
Forget your offer for a second. Forget the product. Think about you. The YOU that shows up with heart, with sass, with soul.
Ask yourself:
- What do I want people to say about me after they see my content?
- How do I want them to describe my vibe to a friend?
- What do I want them to feel in their gut when I speak?
Make a list of words. Emotional words. Personality-driven words. Not what you do, but what you leave behind.
Examples:
- Bold
- Unfiltered
- Calm
- Magnetic
- Empowering
- Thought-provoking
- Strategic
- Weird (and proud)
Step 2: Check for Contrast + Chemistry
Once you’ve got 10–15 words, start narrowing it down by:
- Cutting the fluff (do they all say the same thing?)
- Looking for contrast (do they spark tension together?)
- Finding the energy that feels like you on your best days
You don’t want 3 synonyms. You want 3 distinct energies that work in harmony.
Like mine:
- Unfiltered (my real talk, messy truth energy)
- Strategic (the structured brain behind every piece of content)
- Disruptive (the rebel energy that challenges the norm)
Together, those 3 words don’t just describe me. They position me.
Step 3: Gut-Check It
Here’s how to know if your 3 words are right:
✅ You can say them out loud and feel proud, not cringey
✅ They create a vibe that’s clear and unique
✅ You can connect each one to how you post, speak, write, or show up
If they feel like something a content coach told you to say, toss them. If they feel like a mirror, keep them.
Step 4: Use Them Everywhere
This isn’t an about page trick. This is the foundation of your visibility.
Your 3 words should shape:
- Your captions
- Your Story voiceovers
- Your brand colors and visuals
- The energy of your hooks
- The tone of your CTAs
Before you post anything, ask: Is this content aligned with my 3 words? If not—revise it. If yes—SEND IT.
Because when people feel your consistency, they trust your brilliance. And trust? Converts.
Quick Recap
- Don’t try to be for everyone. Be felt by the right ones.
- Choose 3 emotional words that reflect how you want to be known.
- Gut check them: Do they feel like you? Do they challenge you to show up?
- Use them as your content compass—every damn time.
You don’t need a niche. You need a narrative. And it starts with 3 bold words.
Go find yours—and then speak like you own them.
Love, Viv
